In high-end manufacturing sectors such as pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, and new materials, drying high-viscosity materials (e.g., pastes, slurries, polymers, and herbal extracts) has always been a tough nut to crack on the production line. These materials exhibit poor fluidity, tend to adhere strongly to equipment walls, and are prone to oxidation or the degradation of active ingredients at high temperatures. Traditional drying methods often face challenges like prolonged drying cycles, uneven heating, and material degradation. Therefore, achieving efficient, gentle, and thorough dehydration of high-viscosity materials is the key to elevating product quality.

Why Are High-Viscosity Materials So Hard to Dry?

During the drying process, as moisture evaporates, high-viscosity materials quickly thicken and clump, sometimes even forming a hard "dry crust." This crust severely hinders the outward diffusion of internal moisture, resulting in a condition where the outside is dry but the inside remains wet. Furthermore, when materials stick to the heated walls, it not only drastically reduces heat transfer efficiency but also easily causes localized overheating, which destroys heat-sensitive components. Consequently, simple "heating" is no longer sufficient for these materials; a synergistic mechanism of "dynamic agitation" and "low-temperature vacuum" must be introduced.

Vacuum Drying Technology Tailored for High-Viscosity Materials

Based on the physical characteristics of high-viscosity materials, we have launched professional drying equipment, represented by our Single Conical Screw Vacuum Dryers and Vacuum Rake Dryers. Through ingenious mechanical design, they perfectly solve the problems of wall adhesion and heat transfer:

Powerful Agitation, Zero Dead Corners: The equipment features specially designed screw ribbons or rake agitators. During drying, the agitators continuously turn the material to increase the evaporation area. More importantly, the edges fit tightly against the inner wall of the cylinder, acting like "scraper blades" to continuously remove adhered materials. This completely eliminates scaling and wall adhesion, ensuring uniform heating for every inch of material.

Low-Temperature Vacuum to Preserve Activity: In a sealed vacuum environment, the boiling point of water drops significantly. Materials only need a relatively low temperature (e.g., 40℃-80℃) to achieve rapid boiling and evaporation. This "low-temperature rapid drying" mode maximizes the retention of volatile oils in herbal extracts, the activity of biological preparations, and the color of fine chemicals, effectively preventing the denaturation of heat-sensitive materials.

Porous Structure with Excellent Redissolvability: Driven by the dual effects of agitation and vacuum, the dried product exhibits a loose, porous structure rather than hard lumps. This not only enhances the visual quality of the product but also significantly improves its solubility, laying a solid foundation for subsequent processes like tableting, capsule filling, or blending.

Applications of Our Vacuum Dryers

Pharmaceutical Industry: Gentle drying of herbal extracts, antibiotics, vitamins, and biological pastes, significantly improving the retention rate of active ingredients.

Fine Chemicals: Dehydration and mixing of high-viscosity resins, adhesives, pigment pastes, and silicone rubbers, drastically reducing drying time.

New Materials & Environmental Protection: Processing precursor materials for lithium battery cathodes and volume reduction treatment of municipal and industrial sludge, ensuring material stability and zero secondary pollution.

Drying high-viscosity materials tests not only the heating capacity of the equipment but also the precise coordination between agitator design and vacuum control. We are dedicated to providing customized drying solutions, turning every drying cycle into an opportunity to boost your product's added value.
